Property Management Summer Internships

The Center for Real Estate knows that workforce development is a high priority for industry leaders. PSU is perfectly situated to respond to this need by training the next generation of leaders with experiential learning through internships.

Why Participate?

We have successfully increased our internship program from 3 to 16 positions in just three years. One employer had such a great success with our program, they permanently hired 3 out of the 5 students they hosted as interns.

We strive to make hiring a summer intern as easy as possible for participating employers. We make sure all students are qualified and a right fit. They must meet the following requirements:

• Be currently enrolled in the Certificate or Minor in Real Estate Property Management

• Commit to professional behavior at work as well as periodic communication with the Center for Real Estate before, during, and immediately after the internship.

• Be legally eligible to work in the United States and pass a pre-employment screening process.

• Demonstrate a desire and aptitude to work in real estate, and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75

What is Required?

The minimum requirements for employers include:

• Onboarding the intern as an associate through the existing company orientation process.

• Arranging a minimum of 10 weeks of work between June 15 and September 15. (The start date can be flexible depending on the student.)

• Scheduling a minimum of 160 hours of work.

• Meeting the minimum compensation of $20/hour.

• Providing meaningful work, either onsite, in the headquarters, or a combination of both.

• A number of employers have formalized internship programs, but it is not necessary. The Academic Director will visit with each employer to confirm that the work setting is suitable for students.
